CAIF Plan is a public program composed by the alliance of the State and Civil Organizations. It works under an agreement signed by INAU’s CAIF Plan and Centro Espigas. (INAU – Uruguayan Institute for Childhood and Youth). Its main objetive is to guarantee the protection and promotion of children’s rights from birth up to 3 years old, giving priority access to those coming from families in a context of poverty or social vulnerability.
PROPOSAL
Within the framework of this agreement, INAU provides the funds to finance the operation of the Plan and implementation controls. CAIF Espigas has two programs according to the children’s age: The Opportune Experiences program, which is aimed at 112 children from 0 to 1 year of age, where comprehensive development and the strengthening of the bond with the referring adults are promoted.
The Early Education program, which is offered daily to 56 2-year-olds and 56 3-year-olds, where a pedagogical proposal is made based on the guidelines defined in the Curricular Framework.
In Experiencias Oportunas (Opportune Experiences), weekly workshops are held for the baby and his or her referring adult.
Early Education children are divided into groups according to age, shift and the number of hours they attend the Center.
It is made up of Early Childhood Educators, Teachers, Psychomotricians, Graduates in Social Work, Psychologist, Support Assistants and Coordinator.
In order to offer a more complete and better quality proposal, Fundación Retoño finances more personnel: Music and Yoga Workshops, psychomotrician for Early Childhood Education, Educators and classroom assistants.
GUIDELINES
- To encourage the adult population to reflect on the different aspects of a baby’s development.
- Promote different scenarios to strengthen expression in all its dimensions.
- Promote social skills with peers and adult referents in the center.
- To provide families with spaces for participation, reflection and questioning on parenting, accompanying the needs that may arise.
- From a systemic point of view, to know, share and energize the relationships with the other community, territory and space agents; with common purposes in relation to the families and children that integrate CAIF.
